WAYNE AND ASHER JUMP THE BROOM: PUBLIC DECLARATION OF A SPIRITUAL UNION

On a sun-kissed Sunday, 23rd March 2025, at The Boathouse, Great Yarmouth , I and a few others witnessed an enchanting ceremony, declaring the cemented Union of two people: Wayne Marshall and Asher Mitchell.

A special day for two very special people

To make the day even more special, the guests wore blue, adding a splash of colour and unity to the celebration. Such is the creative talent of Asher, that she not only made her dresses for the wedding and after, but she also made the groom’s suit, the groomsmen jackets and the bridesmaids’ dresses!

consider myself somewhat of a wordsmith, but when it comes to spiritual matters, I do struggle. How does one describe looking at a couple and knowing on a deeper level, that this is a divine connection? With great difficulty!

Wayne Marshall serenades his bride

I would venture to say that this was more than witnessing a couple coming together, this was something we all – their community - needed to see.

In a society where many aspects can feel materialistic and trivial, it’s refreshing to be reminded of our spiritual essence. As I listened to Wayne and Asher exchange their heartfelt vows, I truly appreciated why Wayne selected the Spring Reggae Weekender as the backdrop for their special day. We are navigating through challenging times, and it’s essential to embrace all the positivity we can find. The hope that pure love, free from negativity, is ready to be embraced – if we simply believe – is a beautiful reminder of what truly matters.

The beautiful bride

We weren’t just attending a wedding, our spirits bore witness to a rare but true union. A memorable and unforgettable experience.

After recognising the laws of the land, the couple solidified their spiritual union by "Jumping the Broom," marking the first wedding ever to take place at a Weekender or any music event. Then all guests joined in a celebration of singing and dancing amidst a vibrant atmosphere filled with the rhythm and soul of reggae music.

Wayne and Asher jump the broom!

In closing I unreservedly applaud the hard work, facilitation and organisation of those who helped to make this spectacular occasion take place:
Belinda and The Boathouse staff, Orlando Gittens (Musical Therapy), Pashon PR and Domani Media.
